Machinists and tool & die makers work in machine shops, toolrooms, and factories. In today’s machine shops, they are relatively clean, with modern equipment. They are also well light. Much of the equipment is automated by computers and has guarding in-place to protect the workers. The machinists typically wear safety glasses for eye protection, and ear plugs for ear protection. Machinists typically work 40 hour work weeks and frequently work overtime as needed for production needs.
